Common causes of mental health problems

The pressures of daily life
The activities and events of daily life usually put us under pressure that causes us physical and mental stress. Stress may be due to physical problems, such as illness or overwork. It can also be due to what happens to us emotionally, such as having family conflicts. Even events that generally cause joy (such as the birth of a new baby or getting a job) can cause tension, since they change our lives.

Losses and death

When we lose something or someone we value (a loved one, our job, our home, or a close friendship) we may feel overwhelmed by the affliction. This can also happen if we get sick or develop a physical disability.
Affliction is a natural reaction that helps us adapt to loss and death. However, if we suffer from several losses at the same time, or if we suffer from a lot of pressure in our daily life, we may begin to develop mental health problems.

The traumas

When something terrible happens to us or happens to one of our loved ones, we can suffer a trauma. Some of the most common causes of trauma are domestic violence , rape , war, torture and natural disasters.
A trauma threatens our physical or mental well-being. As a result of this, we feel in danger, insecure, impotent and unable to trust the world or the people around us. It usually takes a long time to recover from a trauma, especially if it was caused by another person, not by nature. The traumas that we could have suffered when we were children , before we could understand what was happening to us or be able to talk about it, can affect us for many years without our knowing it.

Physical problems

Some mental health problems are due to physical problems, you should always consider the possibility of a physical cause when dealing with mental health problems. Remember also that physical problems can be a sign of a mental health problem.

Changes in life and in the community

Regarding social determinism, we are immersed in a society that supports and molds us. In part we behave as we do because of the social circumstances in which we find ourselves. Our behavior is formed as a result of the contingencies of reinforcement to which we are exposed. As we move forward in life, we all face situations and opportunities that shape us, shape our behaviors.
